PURPOSE This study was conducted to describe the relationship of perception of parenting attitude, behavior problems and resilience of school age children. METHODS Participants were 131 children enrolled in the 4th to 6th grades. Data were collected from November 29 to December 6, 2010 using a self-report questionnaire. The questionnaire included the Parental Bonding Instrument, Korean version of Youth Self-Report, and Resilience. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0 program. RESULTS There were significant differences in resilience according to gender, relationship with peers, academic achievement and school satisfaction. Resilience showed a positive correlation with parental bonding attitude and negative correlation with problem behavior in the children. CONCLUSION This result suggests that interventions focusing on parenting attitude to enhance resilience should be developed to help school age children.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the perception of marital conflict and child rearing attitudes on abuse experience and emotional maladjustment behavior in children. METHODS Data were collected from May 25 to June 5, 2009. A questionnaire survey was used with 320 elementary school students. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis. RESULTS For effects of perception of marital conflict and child rearing attitude on abuse experience among these children, authoritarian controlling disposition, affectionate disposition and marital conflict had a significant impact on their overall abuse experience. These variables were predictors of child abuse and accounted for 30.6% of the variance. For effects of perception of marital conflict, child rearing attitude and abuse experience on emotional maladjustment behavior among children, there was a significant influence for marital conflict, neglect, emotional abuse and authoritarian controlling disposition.
These variables were predictors of emotional maladjustment behavior and accounted for 21.5% of the variance. CONCLUSION The results indicate that marital conflict and child rearing attitude are two major variables affecting children's abuse experience and emotional maladjustment behavior.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship of children's behavior problems and child-rearing stress to rejective parenting attitude in mothers. METHODS Study participants were 595 mothers who had children aged 3 to 5 who attended one of 10 kindergartens or infant schools in M or B Cities. The instruments used for this study were a self-report questionnaire, CBCL (Child Behavior Check List), PARQ (Parenting Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire), and PSI (Parenting Stress Index Short Form by Abidin). Regression analysis was the statistical method used for data analysis. RESULTS The factors associated with rejective parenting attitude were child-rearing stress, birth order, mother's education, the major caregiver in the family, and the type of family. These factors explained 33.7% of rejective parenting attitude. CONCLUSION The findings indicate a need to develop and provide parenting programs to reduce child-rearing stress in mothers.

PURPOSE The purposes of the study were to develop and test a model which explains the relationship among factors affecting behavioral problems in elementary school children. METHODS The participants for the study were 368 elementary school children and their mothers at 3 elementary schools in one city. Data analysis was done using the SPSS 17.0 program for t-test, -test, and ANOVA and the AMOS 17.0 program for theoretical model testing. RESULTS The theoretical model showed a significant goodness of fit to the empirical data (Goodness of Fit Index: .96, Adjusted Goodness of Fit Index: .93 Comparative Fit Index: .95, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation: .06, Standardized Root Mean Square Residual: .02). Six paths were found to be statistically significant including from child rearing attitude to self-esteem, stress, stress coping and behavioral problems, and from self-esteem to stress and behavioral problems. Child rearing attitude showed a significant effect to behavioral problems by total effect.
Self-esteem affected behavioral problems by total and direct effects. CONCLUSION Child rearing attitude and self-esteem of children are important factors affecting behavioral problems in elementary school children.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to identify the factors of child behavioral problems and construct a descriptive model that explains child behavioral problems for school age children. METHOD The participants in the study were 586 4th, 5th, 6th graders and their mothers. The children attended 8 elementary schools located in Taejon city and their mothers.
The tools used in this study was the Mother's Child Raising Behavior Scale by Park, Seong-Yeon and Yi, Sook(1990). To measure child's self esteem, the Self Esteem Scale by Kim(1987) was used; child perceived social support was measured with the Social Support Evaluation Scale by Dubow and Ullman(1989), and childhood behavioral problems were measured with the Korean standardized of version of the Korean-Child Behavior Checklist(K-CBCL)(1997). Descriptive statistics and linear structural relationship(LISREL) modeling were used to analyze the data. SAS and LISREL 8.12a programs were used. RESULTS The overall fit of the hypothetical model to the data was good < chi-square=103.07(p=0.00), GFI=0.96, AGFI=0.94, RMSR=0.04, RMSEA= 0.07, NFI=0.94, NNFI=0.95 > Maternal child raising behaviors(T=2.21) and child perceived social support(T=10.29) had a significant, direct effect on a child's self esteem. Maternal child raising behaviors(T=-3.87), and child self esteem(T=-2.04) and had a significant total effect on child behavioral problems. These variables accounted for 63 % of the variance of the child behavioral problems in the school age children. CONCLUSION These finding have provided support for maternal child raising behaviors, child perceived social support, and child self esteem as predictive variables of behavioral problems in school age children.
